Goodbye Quantum Fields

Welcome to the new website and also to a new chapter in Lysander’s book. The virtual world of Second Life has changed drastically since Lysander started DJing at Quantum Fields over 4 years ago, including the existence of Quantum Fields itself. That’s correct, the region once known as Quantum Fields is no more.

Don’t worry though, we had a lot of good times and have been through many changes virtually and personally along the way. Many hours have been enjoyed by dancing, listening to good music, watching live virtual performances, building, chatting with and making friends. All of the festivals and conferences we put on and other live events we have sponsored were very fulfilling because we were the pioneers in so many aspects of Second Life entertainment.

The number of clubs in SL has exploded over the last 2 years making it harder than ever to run a successful club. The quality of clubs has gone down also as a result of many bad practices that persist in Second Life clubs. Most clubs have taken on the practice of having live dancers or hostesses who flood the chat with automated scripts, whilst contest boards and other gimmicks detract from the social aspect of the club. Real interaction has become a victim in this scenario and so the club experience has become more impersonal.

We need a “new” kind of club in Second life that is more like the clubs of old. Back to the basics of dancing, good tunes and great friends with little interference or distractions. The difference is, we will make it an exclusive club so that everyone who realizes the value of a more personal club will be motivated to take part.

Also, there is a new threat to club-goers in the form of redzone privacy intrusions. These can make a club experience more than just annoying but can intrude your privacy in real ways.

So If you are wanting to avoid redzone clubs and also have a more personal experience when you go clubbing, join me at the new Lavender club. We are a greenzone sim and keep the experience personal with real chat and less distractions.
